How To Find Help With A Drug Or Alcohol Addiction
By R4H | March 2, 2008
Is your life being consumed and controlled by drugs or alcohol? Are you fighting either addiction, or perhaps both on your own? Is there someone in your life that might need assistance with an addiction or abuse problem? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions or even if you have other questions of your own, there is help out there for you.
You have already taken the first step in winning the battle with your addiction. Acknowledging that you need help is the biggest step; the rest will get easier each day. If you are seeking help for a loved one who has a drug or alcohol addiction or abuse problem, knowing that someone cares enough about him or her to suggest that help is needed could help him or her to take that first step.
There are agencies available through churches, schools, city, and state governments in addition to ones that your physician might recommend that offer different types of aid for drug and alcohol concerns.
You could also look in your local phone book or online for a drug or alcohol abuse hotline. In many states, there are TV commercials that advertise such agencies as well.
In some cases, your health insurance company may have an 800 number that you could call or a website that you could visit to find alcohol or drug abuse care providers covered by your policy.
What part of the world you live in and the circumstances of your specific situation will also determine where you should begin to look for the help you need.
Many people find that they are better able to deal with their dependence issues with counseling or a support group. Others are only able to get a grasp on their addiction with the help of a treatment facility and medication. No matter what your situation is, you won’t have to fight this battle alone.
